Miley Cyrus Jewelry is Toxic?

Bad news: Walmart has pulled the entire line of Miley Cyrus jewelry! Walmart tested the jewelry and found that it had excessive levels of the toxic chemical, cadmium.

Cadmium has no constructive purpose in the human body. Cadmium and its compounds are extremely toxic even in low concentrations, and will bioaccumulate in organisms and ecosystems.

So, as you can see, cadmium is very similar to getting lead poisoning. In addition to harming brain development in young children, long term exposure to the metal has been shown to cause softening of the bones as well as kidney failure in some cases.

If you have purchased the jewelry from Walmart, you do not have to worry. It is harmless to wear the jewelry but the danger comes if you place it in your mouth. Either way, you should most likely throw the jewelry out. It is better to be safe than sorry.
